At the invitation and in organization of the NGO Sunce from Bugojno, the second public promotion of the book “Birds That Leave and Return to the Cage of Life” by Meliha Sendić and Duška Andrić will take place on Friday, 5 December 2025, in the Crystal Hall of the Municipality of Bugojno, starting at 5:00 PM.
Through personal and professional stories, these long-standing advocates for women’s rights and gender equality open discussions on patriarchal patterns in contemporary society, the pressure of perfection and feelings of guilt, the limitations and choices women face, and the invisible cages that continue to shape women’s lives today.
Through the Center of Women’s Rights — an organization synonymous with advancing gender equality and protecting women’s rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina — Meliha Sendić and Duška Andrić have spent more than 20 years working in the fields of human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, encouraging women to recognize and exercise their rights.
They decided to share their extensive knowledge, as well as their personal and professional experience in challenging prejudice, with the wider public through a book in which they joined their voices in a call for women to live freely.
