The campaign ONE BILLION RISING was launched as a call to action and a response to the horrifying statistic that one in three women will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. Given that the world’s population totals approximately seven billion people, it is estimated that as many as ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS experience violence.
On February 14, 2013, marking the 15th anniversary of V-Day, join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and women and men across the world as they express their outrage, demand change, strike, dance, and RISE against the injustice faced by women, demanding an end to violence against women once and for all.
When one billion people unite on February 14, 2013, in a global demand to end violence against women and girls, it will become a truly global voice that cannot go unheard.
