The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation is one of the few that has supported the work of the Center for Women’s Rights from the very beginning.
We had the honor and pleasure to look back at our work through their prism and present our members, defenders of women’s human rights, first line responders.
“When Meliha Sendić started volunteering for our partner organization Center for Women’s Rights, she was a young student of the Faculty of Law who wanted to gain practical experience in working with women’s rights. The Center for Women’s Rights, based in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, provides legal assistance to women ; many of them are victims and survivors of violence.
Today, Meliha is the president of the organization. Since it became her full-time job, her not only professional but also personal journey began. Through her work with women affected by violence, she had to come to terms with her own experiences of abuse.”
“Nobody can work with other people, especially doing what we do, unless they’ve dealt with all their own traumas and triggers. It’s not just about understanding the person sitting next to you, but also being able to support them – says Meliha.”
