Forums on compensation for victims of human trafficking held in Trebinje (August 29) and Bihać (September 1) concluded a round of expert counseling for employees of courts, prosecutor’s offices, social work centers from the Trebinje Region and Una-Sana Canton.
After the presentation of the panelists, the participants in the discussion, among other things, recognized and emphasized the need for:
– proactive work on detecting and prosecuting human traffickers, which should be accompanied by strengthening coordination and the involvement of all actors
– synergy, cooperation with organizations that provide services of specialized assistance and support for victims and potential victims of human trafficking and the use of resources that organizations such as the Center for Women’s Rights offer
– continuation of the education and sensitization program for employees of institutions in the chain of protection systems and strengthening of their capacities
– by deciding on a property-legal claim within the framework of criminal proceedings.
We will use the conclusions of this and all previous Forums held throughout BiH and advocate for a better position and access to justice for victims of human trafficking.
